Here is that Tesco Ad. I have had a response usual reply. On the face of it Tesco are a model company and claim they haven't sent any food to land fill since 2009. I want to follow this up and find if this is true. This is a dreadful advert

They did not specify which charities. They cannot restock any fresh foods even if they are in date. Here is a quote from their response "If we are unable to sell or redistribute food for human consumption, it becomes food waste. Where possible we send food waste to animal feed – our bakery waste is managed in this way. If this is not possible, we recover energy from food waste through anaerobic digestion or incineration. We have achieved zero food waste direct to landfill since 2009". I do know for instance Sainsbury in our town collect spilt sugar and the local Bee Keepers come and collect it which is errr........ sweet. We need to ask local stores what charities they give their food too. Lula as asked if we could get some results for the symposium on Thursday. If you could do some research that would be great.

Hi Kezzza I keep doing that myself pressing enter. Thanks for the information I am currently looking into the waste management systems of supermarkets sparked by the advert above and the message it portrays. On the face of it they are doing good charitable work but this hides the fact that they are solving a problem created by themselves. Anything you might find that may be useful to me send it through please. Sorry to hear of the court case I will be working so can't attend. Is there no president for conscientious objections based on personal morality or just the right to protest. If i can find out anything I will contact you. Good Luck.
