via Ubuntu - United States - Implementation
I live in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trying to think of ways to get the word out here about Ubuntu. Trying to design a community website that will get people involved in community needs by utilizing the Contributionism philosophy. Will also, be setting up a booth at local events and had out flyers to help spread the word! Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.!!!

Does your Town have a Circle here on ubuntuplanet.org? if not you should create one.

Then use the approved printed materials from the Ubuntu USA you can find them at their new home http://ubuntuplanetusa.com/ind….

Then organize weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly meetings with other people in the community.

That is a starting point from there work on living the Ubuntu way with in your local group. get the word out to the community about what you are doing. once you have enough people start to doing things for the greater community. then work on winning the election in the community so you have majority control and can control the money in the community then you can use those resources to the start the community projects and fully launch Ubuntu in your community.

I will run an for a website by the core group. We just started a new website to start to show case communities and groups and what they are doing we might be able to give you a sub domain of unbuntuplanetusa.com but it will have to be approved by the USA leadership team

We have plenty of online presence. We need to hit the streets in the ways you suggest set up booths,, hand out fliers, talk to people. There are so many online factions of Ubuntu at this point creating more may just adds confusion

Neisha Yes you are right there are a lot of sites out there. the main site for the USA is http://usa.ubuntuplanet.org, there are others that are not part of the ubuntu family like ubuntuusa.com. We need to watch and make sure that the other site to not take away from the Ubuntu Message.

but it would not be a bad thing down the road to have sub domains or sub pages Highlighting the work going on in communities in the USA.

Right Now there are no established Ubuntu Communities. We are working hard at all levels to help those communities that are close to getting started. In the mean time get together with your local group if you have one and get the word out. If you do not have a local group yet start one. then in your everyday life start to live the Ubuntu Life by lending a helping hand to anyone that needs it in your current community.

Hi Erika. I just saw your post on the Implementation page today. Did you get any further with your ideas? I'm pretty busy until Dec 31st but I did help a group in Ontario figure out how they wanted to get started. I used to live in Raleigh Durham as well as farther west in NC and I have been to Wilmington.
