Hi Everyone!

I'm about half way through the series on Gaia TV about the movement, and I am really curious about how to implement the Ubuntu movement & concepts inside of our daily lives - not by buying land and creating a community (which is amazing!).

How do we bring this into the day to day life of an average person? What are some habits we can implement to bring this reality closer and protect us when the monetary system collapses? I'm curious if anyone is doing this right now.

Serafina, I am, to a degree, but I have some help and I started in 2010. Experiment with solar. Charge your smartphone and/or tablet from the sun. It's actually not that easy. Do you drive? Can you bus/bike/walk? Drink pure water (R/O or spring), not city tap water. Fill a sturdy backpack with all you need to live. Step outside your door with that. With some of those steps you gently remove yourself from the grid, reduce your usage of money, reduce your footprint, thereby taking better care of Mother Earth. Other "share" type services (like Workaway), could thereby reduce your money use to almost nil. That is principle #1 of this paradigm. It works, but it takes time. Any one positive step takes you one step closer. And it's fun!

I was just thinking that independence and self sufficiency help one to contribute better to the community as a whole. That sounds paradoxical, but I think there is a glimmer of truth to that. Take care.

Hmm... I do some of that already, wherever possible, and plan to continuously do that, over time. So its about reducing use of the system until gradually coming to self-sustainability.

The book "Limits to Growth" by Meadows et al. comes to mind. It's something I read when I started on this whole journey in 2010.

I find that energy, material things and property are closely tied to spending money. If I can eliminate or reduce any of this, then I gain greater freedom.

Interesting. I've been contemplating that. I will look up that book. Thanks for the reading material.
