So, I've got Linux up and running on my laptop. Was much easier than I thought it would be to install. It's easy to use and means freedom from the usual suspects....

Make sure you keep it updated, Linux is not any kind of guarantee that you'll be safe or free from anything, except a monetary exchange, you still must exercise caution and common sense. I've been a supporter, contributor, and user of Linux & GNU since the late 1980's, they are great tools, but they have had many vulnerabilities over the years, and you have to be as diligent at keeping them up-to-date as any other OS. You still have to be careful opening attachments, visiting malicious URLs, and downloading untrusted apps.

Same goes for Mac OS X as well, despite the fact that most Mac users feel invulnerable.
