I was driving home and saw a car with the Ubuntu logo, so I knew there must be a group on the Island. Yay, I found you! I have been following Michael Tellinger for the past year on Gaia.com.

I hope we can all get together and do what needs to be done to make this happen everywhere.... but especially on Vancouver Island!
Who is to meet up either of line or for a beer/wine/Martini/tea/coffee?

I am in Nanaimo! Let's meet up. I would love to discuss Ubunto principles. I definitely want to be part of a community. Nobody on my street talks to each other; seriously sad. Let's wait till the snows melts, though.

I am thinking of braving the elements and going to a Food Growing Course Information Session in Parksville today. It is at 1:00 pm at the Parksville Museum. Ihttps://facebook.com/events/…

Awesome.... I'm also taking a beekeeping course.... together we can all figure this out.
Snow gives us time to just be eh!
Human beings instead of human doers.
I wonder how many people on Vancouver Island want to get together.
I'm not on social media but could Skype......
Whatever works...
Let's do this together!
Contributionism is our future!

Very excited. Becoming a senior in 2020 I will see my income drop $450. It changes my life in an aggressive, materialistic, supply and demand location where rents have doubled in five years and houses have doubled TWICE in ten years. My $650 will be $1200 to $1500 easily!

Other rental options do not exist. Fewer as more people move here from Vancouver unable to afford the cost of living and feeling marginalized. I left in 2007.

17 years renting a two bedroom, west end apartment $750. Cheap because I renovated each room. I added a dishwasher. I rebuilt all the window ledges and replaced 13 broken windows. Slum to a beautiful place. I rebuilt the bathroom, floors and was evicted for renovations. They added only new appliances, owner stole my dishwasher from the suite for themselves and wanted $1800 rent. They got it. Overnight! 2 weeks of merely polishing floors and putting in appliances. I had fully repainted the entire suite 4 months before eviction. My rent was $600 when I started. Year to year my work kept rent increases to $10 to $15 to $20 a month, year to year.

So in 2022 when my savings are exhausted, my Gibsons home rental situation is in question for sustainability ... which is only $650, it may be too expensive with utilities, food, car and dog care. So affordability for a senior and still being able to live another 25 years in many ways, I love the Ubuntu village concept!

As an actor, director, playwright, retail sales clerk, renovations handyman, Chief Administration of a once impoverished but when I moved on thriving NPO, theatre company, I have a lot to offer and a lot of success.

I hope I have the opportunity to be part of a successful existing UBUNTU COMMUNITY in my years to come.
