BOYCOTT THE CORPORATE BANKING SYSTEM BY USING LOCAL ALTERNATIVES
Since the 2008 banking crisis left most of the world's economies in a state of semi-meltdown, wreaking havoc on countless lives, more and more people have questioned the ethics of the big corporate banks, and the capitalist system that they underpin. Many wonder whether we should do away with money altogether, and there are some very interesting organisations around the world developing convincing non-monetary, rbe (resource based economy) models, such as The Venus Project - Global. In the shorter term, however, a more viable option would be to partially opt out of the corporate banking system by supporting localised monetary systems run by local credit unions, that help to keep the fruits of labour within the immediate regional economy rather than allowing much of it to evaporate out into the wider corporate-run world. Bristol, in the UK, is one of the groundbreaking communities that have led the way, using a secure localised currency that is underpinned by a deposit of the national (sterling) currency, to ensure that people using it don't incur any greater risk than they would using sterling. In other words, it's a win-win system that benefits local businesses, and more cities are following the lead of the Bristol model after its great success. If adopted on a global scale we could seriously reduce the power of the greed-ridden corporate banks that are funding corruption and war all around the world.
